TEXTURES
The scalar texture was chosen for the gallery as artists take their art in all directions and are meaningful regardless of their size.
The osmosis texture was chosen for the columns as they facilitate entry into and out of spaces. The steady texture was chosen for the studio space as it is symbolic of the learning process within classes.

MOVING ELEMENTS
In this video, the moving elements are the columns extruding towards the ceiling. The concept behind this is that the space closes off when in use. This allows for a semi-enclosed space whilst also possessing a sense of freedom. It also facilitates the input of natural light. This resonates with the prevalence of stone columns in classical architecture while incorporating modern technology to extend and retract.
In the second video, the moving element is the workshop space. Similar to the first moving element, the workshop extends and retracts. When the space is in use, it reveals itself but when not in use, it retreats into the column. It balances the monolithic structures of classical architecture with the minimalism found in modern architecture.
REAL TIME IMAGE CAPTURES
This shows the outdoor space at 2:30 pm. It contrasts the complex pillar structure in the background with the relatively simple path in the foreground.
This shows the computer lab in use, as shown by the columns extended towards the ceiling. This juxtaposes the column structures found in classic architecture with the modern space.
The photo shows the studio space. Once again, the block-like space and the columns work together to balance the modern and the classic, creating a simple space for students to work.
